When there was nothing, before ‘Big Bang.’

The Earth we call home never existed at a point in time. Today what we know about our solar system, and our galaxy, isn’t there. This dates back to the formation of the universe, before the Big Bang.

So, what was before the universe? Well, it’s a funny talk because small humans are trying to identify the things before their existence. We confidently say that we do not have exact proof of anything but just hypothetical stories about the time and space we live in. Let’s try to understand the different perspectives we have developed so far.

NGC 253: Dusty Island Universe

The concept of singularity: This is the most common approach we have toward our question, Einstein has told us in his theory of relativity that space and time came after the formation of our universe, so how come we say what was “before” the universe, when time came after the universe, there is no such thing as after or before. This is fantastic! But the imagination doesn’t end here,

The concept of multiverse: Some say that there is not just one universe of ours, but many, that are coming up and going. Our universe may be just an atom in the whole system. This means that every time there is the formation and destruction of a new atom. This also means that the laws of physics in our universe are not the same for other universes. As we are able to find some evidence about the birth of the universe by studying the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB), we are somewhere sure about the Big Bang. Then we also think in this way,

Quantum Field Theory: Scientists say that even the vacuum contains some fluctuations, these come up and go in so fraction of a second that conservation of energy laws do not act on them. So we can also say that before there was nothing, there were these fluctuations that would come up and go, and at some point, our universe is formed from one of these fluctuations, this is a bit more deep conversation and we need a whole new article for this.

Extra Dimensions: Some also say that our universe is part of a different dimension, lesser than everything present. You can imagine this by being a fish drawn on paper who cannot see 3D things. This could also be with us, and we can say there are many of these sheets and when these sheets collide with each other, they may form a new universe. Amazing! we have learned a lot, and we don’t know how far we have to go, or it might be that we know nothing.

We all are aging with the universe and the most incredible thing we can know about it is that our universe is made up of the elements we are made of. No matter how much we talk, it’s always less, it’s the cosmos!
